Fly rods

P4 Evil Black 9'

Are you a real bad boy? A villain who wants to spread fear amongst fish and fellow fisherman? Look no further! If Darth Vader had a fly rod this would be the one. The color black dominates with gorgeous red ferrule trimming to give it that final Evil touch. The original idea for this color combination came from Marc “the Limp Cobra” Fauvet. The overall weight of the P5 Evil Black is 8 grams more than the comparable Stealth or Forest models. The only reason for that is the aluminum spacer used in the reel seat. The top 3 sections have the same weight as on the other models so the swing weight is approximately the same.

These Evil Blacks are a bit different than those with the same name of the other line weights. As there are no black guides on the market that are light enough for these rods, the P4 Evil Black has natural finish thin wire Recoils and a matching stripping guide.

The P4 9' blank:

The lighter version of our do-it-all P5 rod. Similar med-fast action with a bit more sensitivity. A great rod for both delicate presentations in a spring creek and long casts on a big river. Tight line or traditional nymph techniques, dry flies or smaller streamers, this rod can be used to fish with them all.

All our rods are hand built one at a time and endlessly customizable. Please make an inquiry on availability and on custom options before placing your order.

“This past weekend headed up to the Tennessee's Hiwassee River. This is a large river, much like a Western river with sections over 300 yards wide.
I started out fishing a H…. Z….. 9' 5" and although I caught a lot of fish on a double dry set up, I was disappointed. Although I really enjoy the H…. and I think it is a well-designed rod, maybe one of the 5 weight graphite rods ever produced, I did not get the enjoyment I thought I would have with a double dry system. The feel was not there and it was a bit numb on shorter casts.
So the next day I break out the Stickman P4 in the 9 foot version. My goodness it felt good. A perfect to really good dry, double dry, or dry dropper rod. Even though I did not catch near as many fish the day I fished with the Stickman, my enjoyment level went out of the park. Feel was great, and even had some lower end power, although I would not use this rod on a windy day.
I think this rod would be a great medium stream dry or dry dropper rod. A really good spring creek rod. It would also be a great dry fly rod. Especially when the wind is not howling. I would add that it is light and accurate. Akos has another winner.”

"The P4 is as advertised and exactly what I was looking for in the 4-weight. Nice medium-fast action. Easy to cast at fishing distances with good feedback. The rod is pretty versatile for a 4-weight, but especially nice for dry fly fishing on larger rivers. I like the new cocobolo spacer. Very nice on the Amber."
